Sanforizing machine

The purpose of a sanforizing machine is to pre-shrink, stabilize cotton fabrics and mixed cotton fabrics such as Denim.

It is made of 2 units :

• the shrinking unit in which the compressive shrinkage is given by a thick Sanfor rubber belt using steam and mechanical pressure
• the drying unit, also called the Palmer unit, in which the fabrics are dryed by an endless Sanfor polyester felt, which is called sanforizing felt, Palmer felt, Sanfor blanket or drying felt.

Dollfus & Muller is supplying the endless sanforizing felt ; its composition will depend on the type and quality of fabrics which have to be processed (weight, composition, Denim or shirting,…). As well the tensioning system of the sanforizing machine is important for recommending the best quality.

• the rubber belt for the shrinking unit
• the synthetic fabric which is rolled up on the steaming cylinder
• the felt pads which are used to cool the rubber belt or to clean the Palmer heating drum
• the roll coverings which are put on the guiding cylinder of the Palmer unit
