Compactors and calenders
The DOLLFUS & MULLER felts are used on compacting machines or calendering machines. Knitted goods need to be pre-shrunk and stabilised in order to avoid the subsequent shrinkage of the T-shirts or polos in washing machines. The compacting felts facilitate this effect and improve the fabric handle. The shrinkage required (between 2 and 10%) is mechanically given on both sides of the fabric by two consecutive felts using high temperature (usually between 110 & 160°C / 310°F / 280 & 320°F) and steam pressure.
For heat-setting processes, carried out between 180-200°C (350-400°F), DOLLFUS & MULLER has developed heat resistant felts made with Nomex fibres. Tensionless & Relax dryers
The DOLLFUS & MULLER open mesh belts are used to dry, to shrink and to stabilise the fabric in these machines. The fabric, which has been stressed during earlier processes (knitting, dyeing & squeezing), needs to be relaxed. This is usually achieved by agitating the fabric between two belts, either by hot air (between 150 & 180°C/350°F / 300 & 350°F) or other mechanical means. Teflon® sheets
For a better introduction of the knitted fabric and its shrinkage adjustment, we supply also different kinds of Teflon® coated sheets (100% Kevlar® & 100% Fibre glass) of all thicknesses which can be used on the compactors or dryers.
