Fluidization fabrics for cement transport

Other industries

AIRCO fluidization fabrics from Dollfus & Muller are used for bulk cement transport to ensure smooth loading and unloading of trucks (silos), trains (wagons) and ships. They can be used for silo unloading, mixing, storage, distribution and bulk transport of cement.

Airslide fabrics are used for pneumatic conveying of fine, dry products such as cement. These are known as "powders".

The airslide consists of two chambers separated by an impermeable fabric. The air chute is inclined at a very slight angle (just 1.5°). Compressed air is injected into the lower chamber. It passes through the fabric and fluidizes the cement powder in the upper chamber, which then behaves like a liquid and "flows" down the air slide.

Dollfus & Muller AIRCO airslide fabrics are used for long-distance transport of solids with a high fluidization rate. Airslides are an efficient, low-maintenance, low-energy system for mass or small-quantity conveying. The powder flows along the airslide, which does not move. It is in fact the air sent through the fabric that eliminates friction between the powder and the fabric: the powder flows smoothly and evenly. Energy requirements are actually quite low, as only a small volume of pressurized air is needed to move the powder.

Other names include: air fabrics, air-slide canvas, air-slide belt or conveyor, aeration plates, fluid powder conveyor, etc.

Fluidization fabrics is a semi-permeable fabric that lets air through, but not the product.

Dollfus & Muller's fluidization fabrics are manufactured to meet a number of specific requirements:

  • permeability rate to ensure that a given volume of air passes under a defined pressure,
  • fabric temperature resistance. Various compositions are available:
    • polyester (polyester filament in the warp and polyester fiber yarns in the weft),
    • cotton: this fiber has the advantage of being insensitive to bacteria and organic acids, and of absorbing moisture.
    • aramid for working temperatures up to 230°C.
  • the particle size of the powder to be conveyed
  • working environment
